Stag Gyms Proposal
Title:Stag Gyms
Although the initial title of the magazine was planned to be Herts Gyms, I decided to come up with an alternative title; Stag Gyms. I think this title will give me more creative flexibility when it comes to designing and creating my logo and is much more visually as well as audibly attractive, as opposed to the mundane and overly self-explanatory magazine title of Herts Gyms.
Executive Summary
The print-based magazine I will be proposing to you today will be focusing on the theme/subject of fitness training and muscle building workout, covering locations for gymnastics, athletics and gymnastic services; or just simply Gyms. More precisely, the magazine will focus on improving the physical knowledge of the reader and motivate them to drive a healthy and active lifestyle, the magazine will categorically provide the reader with workout routines, form guides and interviews from professional athletes and fitness trainers providing tips and tricks to become the optimal athlete. The magazine is striving to be accessible to all ages by featuring articles for younger as well as older audiences.
Statement of needs
Stag Gyms is primarily a physical print-based magazine (planning on adapting into electronic media in the future) with a unique selling point of it's local availability;centered around the county of Hertfordshire and London. Stag Gyms' target audience primarily includes teenagers and young adults as fitness tends to be more trendy amongst those age groups, however, as everyone is entitled to working out and staying physically healthy we make sure that the magazine offers something for everyone, therefore we encourage older as well as younger audiences to read our magazines. To match and satisfy today's society we will also partially be focusing on persuading more females to join us at our gym. I believe that the product is required as there has been as in the last couple of decades there has been a drastically noticeable rise in obesity and lack of physical health amongst young people or the UK population as a whole.
Stag Gyms is a new magazine presenting itself in a modern light thanks to it's 21st century,eye-catching colour scheme. The main colours of the magazine will include deep blue which includes connotations of depth, honesty and trustworthiness, emphasising the rich, factual and educational content of the magazine. The colour red will also compliment the blue, including overtones of strength, determination and passion emphasising the physical aspect of the magazine. This will all also be accompanied by a soft hint of yellow which blends in well with the warm red creating an overtone of energy and optimism. Lastly, sections of white, turquoise and black will be adapted to the magazine for simple contrast and clear communication.
To the right-hand side is my primary target audience, my magazine will most importantly be aimed at young audiences such as teenagers and young adults (16-26 years old). The second aim of the magazine is to attract middle aged adults (26-40) who perhaps are less motivated to introduce new aspects into their every day routine. Both these categories also include female audiences, as our gym welcomes diversity and is open to different individuals. The minimum age that a pupil can attend our gym at is 16 for health and safety and purposes as the environment contains a lot of risks not fit for audiences younger than that age group.
In terms of the staff that our magazine is going to require during its's production, accompanied by various equipment (from small to large scale), it will require a variety of professional personnel to establish a high quality end product. Firstly, the magazine will require professional photographers with high quality cameras to hire for scheduled photoshoots around the county of hertfordshire, this will ensure that our images are the best quality when they are printed (high resolution, vibrant colours and large size). Our photoshoots will also have a director each, as well as most importantly the model to accompany the articles of the magazine or represent it's front cover. Our photoshoots will contain high quality equipment such as a white backdrop, bright and multi-directional lighting as well as tripods. Secondly, the magazine will require reporters either to travel around the country and acquire potential articles for our magazine or interview individuals featured in our magazine, following this we also need the role of a magazine editor which I will personally be taking on during the design and production stages. It's also important that our company has graphic designers to guarantee clear communication in our graphics and make our magazine look aesthetically pleasing by using various typography, house style and digital graphics; we will accomplish this by providing our staff with high quality graphic design programs such as the Adobe package (including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign).
To promote our magazine, for our primary method of gaining consumers we are planning to use social media marketing. We believe this will give us a significant and drastic rise in consumers as social media such as Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram and Messenger are hugely popular amongst our primary audience of young adults and teenagers. Furthermore other social media websites and applications such as Facebook and WhatsApp are more popular amongst middle aged adults (26-40); which will help us attract our secondary audience also including female groups. We will do this by inserting ads on the webpages and inside applications owned by these social media companies, including putting them before and after videos (e.g. on YouTube and Facebook),making our own social media profiles/channels as well as sponsoring social media stars and events (e.g. Instagram Influencers or gaming events).
Product Description
Stag Gyms is a magazine focusing on fitness activities and events around hertfordshire and the North London area. It will be featuring articles about the best workout locations in the county such as Gyms, Leisure Centres and various pitches and environments to perform sport. The magazine will also feature educational articles encouraging the consumer to stay fit and healthy by providing them with a guide to the optimal workout routine and the best exercises for body-building. We are planning for our first edition of the magazine to include an article answering the question of "What is the Best Gym in Hatfield?" including cross promotion with Pump Gyms,Hatfield Leisure Centre and Energie Fitness. We are also planning to interview various fitness trainers or internet celebrities such as Joe Weller on their weekly workout routines in relative to the progress they have seen from it, this way the aim of the magazine will be to motivate the user to start a routine of their own thus increasing fitness and well-being in Hertfordshire and North London.Stag Gyms is a new magazine presenting itself in a modern light thanks to it's 21st century,eye-catching colour scheme. Resources and Personnel

We will also require some basic standard equipment such as an office with desks and a relatively high-performance computer for each member of staff. We will also need a server to create a local-area network and a place where we can store all our important files; including articles, images, fonts and graphics.
Budget
The average cost of a singular issue of a magazine is around £10,000 each, most companies pay about £20,000-£30,000 per month to bring out a few issues per month, and the overall average being £35,000 per month. Writers get around £4,000 out of the total, the rest going to illustrators, editors and other roles within the brand. This is going to be the approximate budget for my first magazine issue, in order to pay for the staff, photographers, design of the magazine as well as the printing and distribution

Concluding Comments
Overall, I believe that the magazine "Stag Gyms" could be a big success in the market as it's primarily focused around the local area (Hertfordshire and North London), this benefits the local population as it allows them to receive the best health and fitness articles centered around locations accessible to the mentioned primary and secondary audiences. The focus around one county also allows us to be more accurate and go into depth on articles that national magazines might not be able to cover. We also believe that the idea behind the magazine will encourage people to live a healthier and more active lifestyle, by educating them with the best information to get started as well as recommending good products to help with their exercise.
