Learning Objective 3 (U3): To be able to create production materials for an original media product to a client brief (P4,M3)

Creating Production Materials  Written Copy Stefan Mazur was born in Poland but lived in Hertfordshire for most of his life. He is a passionate and motivated body builder who has been actively working out at his choice of Gym for over 2 years. He has recently gained a lot of attention due to his participation in weightlifting competitions around the local area, winning a fair amount in his weight class. Perhaps more impressive is his transformation from a small skinny boy playing basketball with his mates at school, to a fit and healthy athlete. StagGyms : agreed on an interview with Stefan Mazur at his local gym in Hatfield; the interviewer is Eryk Dudziak who works at Stag Gyms magazine. Personally, how happy are you with your overall transformation? I'm ecstatic to say the least. I think about the journey I've gone through nearly everyday of my life, and it feels good to see with your own eyes that hard-work can pay off and bring such amazing results. Obviou

Considering Client Feedback/Questions To the right are both my practice pitch and my final product pitch for Stag Gyms magazine. As part of the pitch I answered several questions resembling real client queries, after reviewing my practice pitch feedback I was able to identify any weaknesses in my product and resolve them; then after pitching the product again I got given more complex questions which allowed me to reconsider some aspects of my product in order to create better pre-production material and make my product more appealing to the target audience, hopefully making it more successful in the future. Some of the questions were indeed very useful and beneficial to my pre-production phase however some weren't as impactful. Evaluation of the Client Questions After pitching my magazine, some of the client  questions have proven to be exceptionally useful as feedback, launching us into our pre-production phase with extra knowledge and making us rethink some of the feature

Learning Outcome 2 (U21): Develop pre-production materials for an original media product (P3,U3)

Pre-Production Material Moodboard For my first piece of pre-production material I made a simple mood board in Adobe Photoshop. This is to effectively capture the essence of the magazine and help the client visualize the theme/genre of the magazine before the production even starts. The moodboard also provides the client insight into the variety of content planned to be featured in the magazine, as well as it's atmosphere, tone and mood (as the self-explanatory name interprets).  The moodboard is a visual montage of the various aspects and themes that go into the magazine, this specific moodboard shows of the desired target audience that we are hoping to attract. Visualization Diagram This is the visualization diagram of the Stag Gyms double page spread, which I created in Adobe Illustrator. The diagram shows an example of what our average article might look like, specifically, we want to focus on showing a large graphic on one page, and the article on the adjacent p

Presenting the Final Pitch for Stag Gyms Magazine After receiving feedback from my practice pitch I knew everything I need to know in order to make my final pitch as effective and successful as it possibly can be. Previously, one of my main weaknesses was misunderstanding some of the questions the audience have asked me, this time I'm confident that I understood them all and answered them appropriately.   Questions "Part of me feels like the name Stag Gyms sounds like a brand of gyms, e.g. a company, rather than a magazine. Any thoughts on that?" Although I can see where the client is coming from, as the name of the magazine can be easily misinterpreted as a brand of Gyms, we chose this name in order to stand out from other generic magazine mastheads. Accompanied with the bold logo the title boldly emphasises the energetic and intense aspect of fitness. We also believe that the untraditional and unique look will help us attract the younger bracket of our t

Pitching the product Practice pitch After practicing pitching my idea, I personally think that it was partially successful. This is because I was able to communicate my message clearly with the audience, however, my pitch also lacked any sort of visualisation  diagram or colour scheme, although I believe my main weakness was misunderstanding some of the questions that the audience have asked me. Here is my full Stag Gyms practice pitch, powerpoint presentation in the form of  a slideshow: Whilst pitching my magazine the first question  I was asked was: "Are you going to conduct research in order to find the best gym in the local area?".  Although I slightly drifted off the main topic of the question during my practice pitch, the answer to this is question is shortly yes, as part of our plan of providing the best content to our consumers we will be conducting research in the form of surveys and short interviews with the public who attend said gyms to find o

Learning Outcome 1 (U21): Be able to create a proposal with sample materials for an original media product to a client brief. Learning Outcome 2 (U21): Be able to create a proposal and pitch for an original media product based on a given brief (P1,P2,M1)

Stag Gyms Proposal Title:Stag Gyms Although the initial title of the magazine was planned to be Herts Gyms , I decided to come up with an alternative title; Stag Gyms . I think this title will give me more creative flexibility when it comes to designing and creating my logo and is much more visually as well as audibly attractive, as opposed to the mundane and overly self-explanatory magazine title of Herts Gyms. Executive Summary The print-based magazine I will be proposing to you today will be focusing on the theme/subject of fitness training and muscle building workout, covering locations for gymnastics, athletics and gymnastic services; or just simply Gyms . More precisely, the magazine will focus on improving the physical knowledge of the reader and motivate them to drive a healthy and active lifestyle, the magazine will categorically provide the reader with workout routines, form guides and interviews from professional athletes and fitness trainers providing tips and trick

Learning Outcome 1 (U21): Be able to generate ideas for an original media product based on a client brief (P1,M1)

Interpretation of the Client Brief From the client brief I have interpreted that I am designated to generate ideas for a local, printed and opportunistic magazine; focused around the county of Hertfordshire, which later on may transfer into other neighbouring counties. The Herts Magazine is a newcomer to the market and has provided a relatively broad range of subjects for me to cover and implement into the first edition of their magazine, such as; theatre, music, art and sport. In terms of media, I understand that I will have to produce an online web magazine as well as a physical printed version. Initial Ideas From a quick interpretation of the client brief I have acquired a starting list of different generated ideas that I can implement into the first edition of the Herts Magazine,I personally have decided to focus on the sport genre of the magazine, however, I've chosen the music genre as an alternative. By focusing on the sports genre I'm also including fitness and a h
